big are the carp? ---------------------------------------- |
At
the moment most of the fish are over 20lbs with quite a few 30's and 4
x 40's. The biggest fish landed at Carp Heaven is a mirror of over 46lbs. |
| How
many carp are there? ----------------------------------- |
There
are probably about 280+carp in Carp Heaven. |
| Are they easy to catch? ------------------------------------- | Although I don't want to raise expectations only 2 people have ever blanked at Carp Heaven. If you see where the fish are showing or fish the known spots then they can be very easy to catch. I don't like to use the meaningless ratings of "easy", "moderate" or "difficult" because every lake can be all of those at any time. |
| Are there any nuisance fish? -------------------------------- | There are no silver fish to trouble you and no crayfish but, like most other french lakes, there are some poison chat. |
| Can
I use particles? ----------------------------------------- |
In
the interest of my carp's welfare only properly prepared pigeon mix, hemp,
maize, wheat, partiblend or red band is allowed. |
| What
is the best bait to use at Carp Heaven? -------------- |
All
the well known boilies will work but I would always recommend frozen boilies.
Boilies from Mainline Baits, Nutrabaits, Richworth Baits, Dynamite Baits,
Essential Baits, Premier Baits and Quality Baits have all been used here
and have worked very well. There is no need to air dry your bait because
there is a freezer for your use in the utility room. Also it is a good
idea to bring a small quantity of different flavoured, harder 18mm or
20mm boilies to use as hook baits. eg Mistral Baits isotonics or banana
tutti or any Richworths fruity flavoured boilies or Hutchinson Classic
range boilies. |

much bait will I need? ---------------------------------- |
Most
people use between 5 and 10 kg of boilies but the most successful anglers
use 10 to 20 Kg plus 15 Kg of particle. |
| Can
I use my bait boat? ------------------------------------ |
Yes.
Sensible use of a bait boats is allowed. |
| How
far is Carp Heaven from Calais? ------------------------ |
I
make it about 380 miles. Most of which is on the fantastic autoroutes. |
| How
long does it take to get to Carp Heaven? -------------- |
Depending
how fast you drive and how many stops you make it only takes about 6 1/2
hours. |
| Can
I book the whole lake to myself? ---------------------- |
Yes.
It is possible to book the lake exclusively for your own party. |
| What
if my partner won't bivvy up? ------------------------- |
There
are 2 rooms available to rent, 1 double and 1 twin and the facilities
are suitable for family use. |
| Is
Carp Heaven suitable for juniors and lady anglers? ----- |
Carp Heaven
is ideal for juniors. If required I am available to help with rigs, baits
and tactics. Because there are only 6 anglers allowed everyone has loads
of space to fish. With crowded banks it is hit and miss if you can get
on the fish but here everyone has a great chance to catch these fantastic
carp, also because of the clean facilities and general uncrowded nature
of Carp Heaven it is ideal for lady anglers. |

do we do our washing-up? -------------------------- |
There
is a utility room that has a sink with hot and cold water 24/7 and a fridge-freezer. |
| How
big should my unhooking mat be ? ------------------- |
Leave
your mats and slings at home. We loan mats, nets and slings free of charge
for the week. |
| Do
we need any specialist tackle ? ------------------------- |
No.
There is no extreme distance casting required, but rods of 2.75lb test
that can cast about 80 - 90 yd's will be fine plus fully loaded baitrunners. |
| What
is the best rig? ---------------------------------------- |
When
I fished Carp Heaven is a Snakebite hook length, ESP raptor size 4 hook
and the knotless knot coupled with ESP Anchor Rig tubing, Korda safety
clips and a 2.5 oz lead. Hooks can be barbless or micro-barbed. Long shank
hooks of any description are banned. |
What
line do you recommend? ----------------------------- |
12lb
is the minimum strength allowed at Carp Heaven. My personal choice is ESP
12lb. |
