Motoring and travel insurance information.

If you have Satnav or use web sites like www.theaa.co.uk www.viamichelin.com www.mappy.com or google maps put the village of Cronat and the post code 71140 to get the route to Cronat and I will include the final directions from the village to the lake with your deposit receipt and visitors pack.

I have added the route from Calais in the "Downloads" link. The distance from Calais is about 380 miles and the majority of the journey is on the fantastic uncrowded french autoroutes and should only take about 6 1/2 hours. If you have not driven in France before don't be put off by the journey time because if you travel overnight or early morning then the already quiet autoroutes will be deserted and if 2 or more share the driving then tiredness is not a problem. Some of my Dutch clients travel up to 1000Kms to be here and return every year. There are plenty of "aires" (services or parking and toilets) en-route where you can get coffee etc.

You should have with you the following safety items in your vehicle;
High Viz jackets for each person, Spare bulb kit, Road side triangle, Fire extinguisher and First Aid Kit.
Also there should be a GB sticker on the rear of the vehicle and headlamp beam deflectors.

Use the links on this site to access the ferry companies websites. It is also a good idea to take out motoring cover, Green Flag, The AA or RAC etc, and also travel insurance that includes health cover but at the very least bring an E111 (European Health Insurance Card) for basic health cover.
